TOURNAMENT PLAY |
We follow a stroke play format for each tournament, with players being slotted in flights according to their official AGA handicap. Prizes are given to the top three Low Net finishers in each regular flight. We also give a prize to the Low Gross non net winner in each flight. Tie breakers are determined by a scorecard playoff using the hole handicaps to decide the final standings. Competitions will include an optional side pot for Closest to the Pin on all par 3’s and an optional side pot for Low Net. Cash prize payouts will be based on the number of participants in each event. The Skins Game pot is paid to Gross and Net winners on each hole and winners receive a cash prize that will be credited to future greens fees. At the end of your round two players must sign and attest the scorecard. Hand that scorecard into the scoring committee table. The committee will verify score cards are completed and signed. Gene will enter all scores into Golf Genius before the Wednesday following the tournament. Jim will transfer all results to the website that same day. Generally, the prizes consist of cash based on the number of players in the event that day and that can be credited to future greens fees. We also ask that the groups playing a par 3 as their last hole of the day to pick up the closest to the pin marker and bring it to the scorers table. We follow a strict interpretation of the rules of golf in all of our events. |
TOURNAMENT PROCEDURES |
We will choose a course that will keep the total cost at or less than $95. Total cost breaks down as follows; Green fee (golf, cart, range balls & tax) plus $10
prize fund ($7 flight money, 2 skins pot & $1 Hole-in-one pot). We have two optional side pots available for those who choose to participate (Low net pot $5 & Closest to the Pin $1 x total number of par 3’s). There will be a $5 guest fee charged to those non-member participants.
Non-member guests are welcome to play in our tournaments. Non-member guests are not eligible to win flight money or HOI (hole-in-one) money, however, can win skins prize money using an official USGA handicap index (GHIN/WHS) or calculated callaway handicap based on their tournament score for that round. Non-member guests can only participate in the Closest to the Pin side pot if they choose to do so.
PhxGA must guarantee a certain number of players with each course on the Thursday preceding our Sunday tournament to get our preferred tee times and rates. Thus, we ask that players sign-up on or before (preferred) the Wednesday preceding our Sunday tournament. If you sign up for a tournament and, for whatever reason you have to cancel, please do so as soon as possible and no later than the
Friday before our tournament date via email, text, or phone call (prefer text or call) to Gene Williamson.
If you must cancel on Saturday or the day of the tournament you must call or text Gene prior to tee off time and you may be responsible for the payment of the green fee. Our no-show policy dictates that the member or non-member will be responsible for the green fee amount of the tournament if they fail to cancel their participation.
On the day of the tournament, we ask that players check-in a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the scheduled tee time. We will have a separate check-in table at each course where we will collect all monies owed, thus, it is not necessary to check-in or pay any monies to the pro shop.
